BIOGRAPHY
Dublin-born soprano Susie Gibbons graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Music, where she was a Sussex Scholar studying with Amanda Roocroft.
Recent seasons have brought a range of exciting debuts and collaborations. Susie made her debut with Wexford Festival Opera in Suor Angelica, performing the roles of Suor Osmina and Le Suore Cercatrici, and also joined the chorus for La Ciociara. in This season, Susie has performed in concert with the UCD Symphony Orchestra at the National Concert Hall in Dublin under the baton of Ciaran Crilly.
In the 2022 to 2023 season, Susie made her role debut as Fiordiligi with Random Opera Company and performed with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in the final of Opera Festival Scotland’s Young Artist Singing Competition. She also joined the English National Opera Chorus for their production of The Handmaid’s Tale, and was an Alvarez Young Artist with Garsington Opera, performing in the choruses of Così fan tutte and Rusalka.
Susie made her debut as soprano soloist with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in Handel’s Messiah, and has performed at the National Concert Hall in Dublin as part of the Raise Our Voices recital, curated by Tara Erraught. She has also appeared in Irish Heritage’s Christmas by Candlelight at St George’s Church in London, where she is a regular guest artist.
Her recent competition successes include being shortlisted as a finalist in the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition 2025, and reaching the final of the Veronica Dunne Young Singers Bursary Competition in 2023. She is also a recipient of the Bernadette Greevy Bursary and the Mahler Prize at the National Concert Hall. Earlier achievements include winning the Nancy Calthorpe Cup for French Mélodie and reaching the final rounds of both the Festival of Voice with Northern Ireland Opera and the Gervase Elwes Cup at Feis Ceoil.
Having originally studied psychology at University College Dublin where she was a UCD Choral Scholar and an Ad Astra Performing Arts Scholar, Susie turned her attention to her singing studies in 2016 and enrolled as a part-time student at the TU Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama where she studied with Colette McGahon-Tosh.
Susie is a passionate vocal coach with a busy private coaching practice online and in-person through her business as The Vocal Health Coach (@thevocalhealthcoach). Susie holds a certificate in Vocal Health First Aid and is Vocal Habilitation Specialist and has been coaching amateur and professional voice users experiencing voice problems since 2024. Susie is based in Dublin where she lives with her husband and young daughter.
